Agra lawyers strike work, demand high court bench
March 28th, 2010 - 1:53 am ICT by IANSAgra, March 27 (IANS) Lawyers in Agra observed a day’s strike Saturday to demand a bench of the Allahabad High Court in the city.
The lawyers took out a protest march and Nitin Sharma, a member of the lawyers committee, said that one lakh signatures would be sent to the president of India shortly in this regard.
The Jaswant Singh Commission set up by the central government in early 1980s had recommended Agra as the venue for a high court bench, a lawyer said.
The Agra Collectorate Bar joined the strike along with the civil court lawyers.
