After win, AIADMK legislators to meet in Chennai
May 14th, 2011 - 2:44 pm ICT by IANSChennai, May 14 (IANS) Following its massive victory in the Tamil Nadu assembly election, the AIADMK has called a meeting of its 148 newly elected legislators here Saturday.
The meeting will take stock of the election results and also elect party general secretary J. Jayalalithaa as leader of the party in the new assembly.
According to party leaders, Jayalalithaa will come to the party headquarters here around 2 p.m.
Speaking to IANS, AIADMK legislator V.P. Kalairajan said: “The massive victory is due to people’s faith in our leader’s ability in providing good and efficient government.”
He said the people got fed up with the family mis-rule of M. Karunanidhi.
After being elected leader of the party in the 14th Tamil Nadu assembly, Jayalalithaa will stake her claim to form the government to Governor Surjit Singh Barnala.
The party contested in 160 seats and won 148 of them. In nearly 80 constituencies, the AIADMK was in direct contest with the ruling DMK.
The AIADMK front has won 204 seats of the total 234 in the assembly.
