After mobile seizure, 2G accused shifted to another jail

New Delhi, May 23 (IANS) Three days after the Tihar prison authorities seized a high-end mobile phone from Rajiv Agarwal, an accused in the 2G spectrum scam case, he has been shifted to another jail, Tihar Jail director general Neeraj Kumar said Monday.

Guards of the Tamil Nadu special police recovered a BlackBerry mobile phone device from Aggarwal Friday evening when he returned to the jail after attending a court hearing.

He was staying with 13 other co-accused in the jail number 1.

“Soon after we recovered the mobile from Aggarwal, we shifted him from jail number 1 to 4. We are probing the issue, we are yet to know the details on how he got to access of the mobile phone,” Kumar added.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Agarwal, co-owner of Kusegaon Realty, March 29. The agency had March 28 carried out searches at the company’s office premises in connection with the alleged money transfer in Mumbai.
