After 15 years, bail jumper arrested in Haryana
October 5th, 2011 - 6:43 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh Oct 5 (IANS) A man who had jumped bail and was absconding in a criminal case for the last 15 years has been arrested finally by the Haryana Police, a police spokesman said here Wednesday.
Tahir Hussain of Gangoh area in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, arrested in 1989 for various criminal offences, absconded after getting bail from the Punjab and Haryana high court.
He was wanted for offences including house breaking, lurking trespass and theft and was kept in prison at Karnal, 130 km from here. However, after getting bail, he neither reported to the police nor appeared in court.
“A warrant had been issued by the court of additional session judge, Karnal, and the chief judicial magistrate, Karnal, to arrest Tahir Hussain, but he escaped. A special team of police was constituted to nab the accused,” the spokesman said.
The accused was finally nabbed Monday, he added.
