Afridi’s comments won’t impact India-Pakistan talks: Abdullah
April 6th, 2011 - 11:25 pm ICT by IANSJammu, April 6 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday dismissed the anti-India comments of Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi, saying that would have no impact on the dialogue process between the two countries.
“We are too mature a country to react to an individual’s statement,” the chief minister told newsmen on the sidelines of a function here.
He appreciated the fact that the two countries have started their dialogue process to address all outstanding issues.
He was replying to a question about Afridi’s comment that “Indians were not as blessed as Pakistani Muslims who are large hearted people.”
The chief minister said that the talks would continue and the relations between the two countries would improve.
Abdullah refused to comment on the statement made by the army’s Northern Command chief, Lieutenant General K.T. Parnaik, about the increasing activity of China’s Peoples Liberation Army in Pakistan-administered Kashmir causing “serious security concern” for India.
He said it was for the central government to deal with the situation .
