Kabul, Feb 17 (Xinhua) The deputy governor of Afghanistan’s northern province of Baghlan and his bodyguard were killed in a road accident Sunday morning, the interior ministry said in a press release. Sheikh Daulat, a deputy governor of Baghlan province, was on his way to Balkh province when his vehicle collided with another car coming from the opposite direction.

Daulat was killed on the spot, while his bodyguard succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, the statement said.

The statement, however, did not say what exactly caused the accident, but many roads in the northern provinces were in bad conditions due to the snowfall over the past six weeks.
