New Delhi, Sep 6 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) plans to examine Union Science and Technology Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh in Mumbai’s Adarsh Housing Society scandal, an official said Tuesday.
The investigating agency would question Deshmukh, who is a witness in the case, about the society’s files he dealt with during his tenure as Maharashtra chief minister.
The CBI July 31 questioned union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde regarding the files related to the high-rise apartment block in south Mumbai.
According to reports, Shinde had accepted a proposal sent by Ashok Chavan, the then revenue minister, recommending that 40 percent of flats should be given to non-army people in the building, which was originally for the kin of 1999 Kargil war martyrs.
The Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society, in which prime flats have been allegedly cornered by several politicians, officials and defence personnel, is accused of flouting several norms and committing several irregularities.
