Achuthanandan faces veiled attack from party MP
September 13th, 2011 - 7:02 pm ICT by IANSKannur (Kerala), Sep 13 (IANS) Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) MP from Kerala M.B. Rajesh Tuesday hinted that former chief minister and party leader V.S. Achuthanandan was attacking leaders of the Congress-led United Democratic Front only to seek publicity.
Without naming Achuthanandan, Rajesh said at a meeting of the party’s youth wing here that it was unfortunate that some leaders were always talking of Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty and former minister R. Balakrishna Pillai.
“Talking always of Kunhalikutty and Pillai means that the real problems of the society are taking a back seat and this is an easy way of getting instant publicity,” said Rajesh.
The young MP’s remarks come a week ahead of the start of district-level meetings of the party. The meetings are planned as part of a preparation for the state party conference in February next year.
As the media highlighted the statement of Rajesh, the young MP clarified that he never spoke anything against Achuthanandan.
The former chief minister over the past one year has used very opportunity to hit at Kunhalikutty and Pillai, both leaders in the Congress-led United Democratic Front.
Kunhalikutty was attacked for his alleged involvement in a sex scandal and Pillai was hit on the issue of corruption. Pillai is currently serving a one-year jail term in a graft case.
