Abducted builder found dead, three held

New Delhi, June 20 (IANS) Two days after he was kidnapped from south Delhi, a 56-year-old builder was found dead Monday in Noida area, Delhi Police said. Three people have been arrested.

Deepak Kumar, 25, and Sonu, both from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh, were detained for questioning in Tilak Nagar area of west Delhi and Pratapgarh respectively Sunday, Additional Commissioner of Police Ajay Chaudhry said.

The two were formally arrested Monday.

Police Monday also arrested Rakesh, a resident of Pratapgarh, for buying the valuables stolen from the killed Delhi builder. deceased.

Vinod Kumar Gupta was reported missing from Chittaranjan Park area in south Delhi Saturday.

“A case of kidnapping was lodged by his son Ankur Gupta. Both mobile phones of the victim were unreachable and his car was found abandoned in Greater Noida Saturday,” said Chaudhry.

During investigation, police found that Deepak had Gupta’s mobile phones and he was missing from his home, along with his friends.

During interrogation, Deepak told the police that he, Sonu and another friend, Dilip, murdered Gupta after he resisted their robbery bid.

Gupta’s body was recovered from Noida in Uttar Pradesh Monday, Chaudhry said.

Dilip is still untraced and on the run.
