March 6th, 2011 - 10:51 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, March 6 (IANS) A police constable, suspected to have been abducted by Maoists in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district, remained untraced for the third day, police said Sunday.
“Search operations are being conducted in the area. We are trying our best to trace constable Sarkar Hembram,” said Superintendent of Police Praveen Tripathi.
Hembram, posted with Jhalda police station in Purulia district, was abducted Thursday by the suspected ultras from his in-law’s house in Mohuli in West Midnapore district.
“Security personnel in Orrisa and Jharkhand have been informed about Sarkar’s abduction and regular co-ordination was being maintained,” said Tripathi.
The Maoists also abducted his father-in-law Khelaram Tudu but later released him in a nearby forest.
