8,500 bottles of smuggled liquor seized, two held
September 10th, 2010 - 3:09 pm ICT by IANSPanchkula (Haryana), Sep 10 (IANS) Two people have been arrested and more than 8,500 bottles of smuggled liquor worth Rs.550,000 seized from this Haryana town, police said here Friday.
As many as 191 cases of beer were also seized from a truck, which was intercepted near the Panchkula-Yamunanagar national highway.
“We laid a trap and stopped the truck. While searching the truck, we found smuggled liquor worth over Rs.550,000,” said a police official.
“We have arrested truck driver Sanjay Kumar and his helper Karan Singh. They had bought this liquor from a Chandigarh-based dealer and were taking it to different parts of Uttar Pradesh.”
