Patna, July 23 (IANS) At least eight people were killed and about 40 people were feared to have drowned Wednesday when two boats capsized in two incidents in Bihar, an official said here. At least eight people were killed and 25 were feared to have died when an over-crowded boat capsized in the swollen Kosi river at Kanpghat village in Purnea district, about 300 km from here.

The district administration has launched rescue operations.

In the other incident, 18 people were feared to have drowned when an over-crowded boat capsized in Supaul district, about 250 km from here.

The threat of floods is looming large in several districts of north Bihar following incessant rains for the past several days in neighbouring Nepal.
