70-year-old jumps off flyover
May 8th, 2011 - 9:08 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 8 (IANS) A 70-year-old retired government official Sunday attempted suicide by jumping off a flyover in west Delhi, police said.
“Mehar Chand Khurana, jumped off the Moti Bagh flyover at around 3 p.m. today (Sunday) and fractured both his legs,” Additional Commissioner of Police V. Renganathan told IANS.
“We are still ascertaining the cause as he is unfit for making a statement right now because of the injuries,” he added.
According to police, Khurana stays with his son Naresh’s family in Kirti Nagar and was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital but was later shifted to Gangaram Hospital, where he is said to be stable.
“The family is being quizzed but we can reach a conclusion only after recording his (Khurana’s) statement,” Renganathan added.
