According to the state election commission officials, 62 percent of the electorate had cast their votes till 5 p.m.
“The polling percentage in this round is more or less like in the fifth round,” an official said.
The elections started at 7 a.m. and voters were seen queuing up at polling booths despite a boycott call by Maoists.
Additional Director General of Police Rajwardhan Sharma said that polling was by and large peaceful.
“There were no reports of any major violence till the polls ended at 5 p.m.,” he said.
Police arrested over 1,024 troublemakers and seized 200 vehicles during the polls.
According to state election commission sources, people will choose representatives for 28,057 village council posts. Around 51 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise while 91,360 candidates are in the fray.
