New Delhi, Feb 18 (IANS) At least 58 bonded labourers along with 123 members of their families have been rescued from brick kilns in Haryana after the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) carried out spot investigations in the state since the beginning of this month.
The labourers, who were all rescued from different places in the Jhajjar district of the state, were later released by the executive magistrate and assured of being rehabilitated.

“The commission was also assured that proper action will be taken against the owners and proprietors of the brick kilns since they have violated the Bonded Labour System (Abolition Act, 1976) and other labour laws,” an NHRC official said.
