554 killed in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2011
December 30th, 2011 - 9:59 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, Dec 30 (IANS) A staggering 554 people were killed and 1,158 injured in 188 bomb blasts in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in 2011, according to official figures.
However, attacks on police went down in 2011 compared to 2009 and 2010. A police report said there were 162 attacks on police parties. At least 40 policemen were killed in different attacks.
As many as 5,497 incidents of militancy took place in 2009 while there were 1,202 attacks in 2010, Online news agency reported.
One of the worst suicide attacks that took 62 lives was carried out at a training institute of the Frontier Constabulary paramilitary force in Shabqadar in May.
