“Nearly 50 kg of active IED material was recovered by a joint team of the District Force (DF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in a forested area in Dantewada district,” Amresh Mishra, district superintendent of police, told IANS.
He said a 15-kg claymore mine was also recovered in a pocket between Chintalnar and Mukram village where 76 security personnel were massacred by the Maoists early last month.
Officials here at police headquarters claim that up to 25,000 sq km of Chhattisgarh’s 40,000 sq km restive Bastar region has been intensively mined by the guerrillas who hold sway in interiors of the region.
