5 Maoists, including 2 women, arrested in Jharkhand
April 15th, 2011 - 7:30 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, April 15 (IANS) Five Maoists, including two women, were arrested from two places of Jharkhand Friday, police said.
“Two Maoists were arrested from Bundu and three from Itki of Ranchi. One foreign made pistol, 40 gelatin sticks, more than 50 live cartridges and one vehicle have been seized,” Praveen Singh, Ranchi senior superintendent of police, told reporters here Friday.
According to police, Basudev Hazam and Istomani alias Basanti were arrested from Bundu jungle. They were actively associated with Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) zonal commander Kundan Pahan, who is also known as the Veerapan of Jharkhand.
Three rebels, including a woman, Mridula, belonging to another Maoist organisation, People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), were arrested from Itki. The arrested include zonal commander of PLFI Raj Kamal Gope.
The arrested Maoists were wanted for several criminal cases by the police.
