5 crushed to death as speeding truck overturns
February 23rd, 2011 - 9:48 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Feb 23 (IANS) Five people, including two women, were crushed to death and several others injured when a speeding truck overturned in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district Wednesday, police said. The accident happened near the Binpur area of Jhargram sub-division when the truck driver lost control.
The two women died on the spot, while three others died while being taken to hospital, said Jhargram police superintendent Pravin Tripathi.
“The accident happened as the truck driver lost control. We are still waiting for more details,” said Tripathi.
The police were ascertaining whether the two women who died were pedestrians or travelling in the truck.
