- New Delhi, Nov 6 (IANS) The Delhi High Court Friday asked five people, convicted of contempt of court, to stand in court till it rose for the day.
A division bench comprising of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Ajit Bharioke ordered Ajay Yadav and four others to stand in court for the whole day for not abiding with the court’s earlier order.
It also sentenced all five to three months imprisonment but allowed their plea for probation on the condition that they will settle their disputes with the creditors.
The court was hearing the plea of Capital Land Builders, who have filed a contempt plea against Yadav and the others for posing as shareholders and representatives of the builders despite court’s earlier order restraining them from doing so.
“We have approached the court when these people did not stop using Capital Land Builders’ name for business purposes,” said advocate Viraj R. Datar, counsel for the firm.
In 2006, Capital Builders approached the court, seeking Yadav and the others be restrained from using the firm’s name.
However, despite the court’s orders, Yadav and the others continued to use the name, thus leading to the firm seeking contempt of court proceedings against them.
