40 illegal firearms seized, three held
November 10th, 2011 - 12:40 am ICT by IANSLucknow, Nov 9 (IANS) over 40 firearms were recovered from an illegal manufacturing unit unearthed in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district Wednesday following the arrest of three youths who used to supply the weapons across the country, police said.
Mukesh, Devendra and Gopal — all in their mid-20s — were nabbed from the illegal firearms unit in Noorpur village.
“Over 40 illegally manufactured country-made pistols were seized from the arms factory,” police inspector Rajendra Singh told reporters in Aligarh, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“The three youths, who are natives of Uttar Pradesh, have been involved in the illegal trade for the last three-four years. They had their clients in various states, including Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan,” he added.
