4 killed in train-tractor collision
November 20th, 2009 - 9:20 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Nov 20 (IANS) Four people were killed and one seriously injured when a train rammed into a tractor-trolley on the outskirts of the state capital early Friday, officials said.
The incident occurred at an unmanned railway crossing near Tikariya village in the Gosainganj area.
“A tractor-trolley was crossing the unmanned railway crossing when the Sultanpur-Lucknow passenger train hit it. While the driver, Sanjay and the cleaner, Mohle died on the spot, two others, Rahul and Sanjeevan, died on way to hospital,” Additional Superintendent of Police S.K. Tiwari told IANS.
Sarjoo was critically injured and is in hospital, he added.
In a similar accident in the state’s Gonda district, 120 km from here, earlier this month, over a dozen people were killed and over 50 injured when a train hit a truck at an unmanned crossing in the Nawabganj area.
