35 cyber criminals held in Indonesia
September 28th, 2011 - 12:06 am ICT by IANSJakarta, Sep 27 (IANS/AKI) At least 35 Chinese and Taiwanese have been arrested in Indonesia for their involvement in cyber crime, police said Tuesday.
The suspects were arrested in the capital city Jakarta on a request from Interpol, Indonesia’s National Police said.
Police chief Sutarman later said the arrest was based on a request from China related to cyber crime in that country.
Claiming to be officials, they had allegedly committed fraud and extorted money via the internet, he said.
The victims were from Indonesian and other Asian countries.
