33 patients rescued from illegal de-addiction centre

Amritsar, Feb 25 (IANS) The Punjab police Monday rescued 33 patients from a privately run illegal drugs de-addiction centre near here after a raid. Police officials said the patients were being kept in most unhygienic and inhuman conditions. They said some drugs were also recovered from the premises of the clinic.

The person running the centre at Gaushabad village near here was identified as G.S. Cheema. The police are looking for the owner who has been absconding ever since the raid.

The rescued patients were sent to a de-addiction centre run by the district Red Cross here.
