31 people held for gambling in Delhi
July 12th, 2011 - 11:29 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 12 (IANS) A total of 31 people were arrested from west Delhi for gambling, police said Tuesday.
“We got a tip-off that gambling in public was happening at two places and conducted raids. Twelve people were arrested from E Block and 19 people from Y Block of Mongolpuri,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police B.S. Jaiswal.
The main accused running the gambling houses were identified as Bhakti Verma, Kailash Chand, Palli Swami, Ashok Kumar and Amit Kumar.
During interrogation, they told police that they were running the racket for a long time. They used to write numbers of customers and if the desired number came out, the customers received eight times the amount of their wager.
