3 Maoists surrender, one arrested
October 4th, 2010 - 8:50 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Oct 4 (IANS) Three Maoist guerrillas surrendered before police while another was arrested in Ranchi Monday.
The militants surrendered before Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Praveen Singh.
“They were associated with CPI-Maoist zonal commander Kunda Pahana since 2006. They were provided Rs.50,000 each and would be rehabilitated as per the surrender and rehabilitation policy,” Singh said.
Kunda Pahana, known as Veerappan of Jharkhand, is prime accused in the murder of former minister Ramesh Singh Munda.
In the last three months, 11 Maoist rebels have surrendered in Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, the Ranchi police arrested Maoist rebel Deshbandhu Munda.
