2G scam: Two Kusegoan officials seek discharge
August 18th, 2011 - 11:02 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 18 (IANS) The two officials of Kusegoan Fruits and Vegetables Pvt. Ltd., Asif Balwa and Rajiv B. Aggarwal, Thursday concluded their arguments in a Delhi court by seeking discharge in the 2G spectrum allocation case.
Cineyug Films’ founder Karim Morani will begin his arguments on charge Friday.
Earlier, Balwa and Aggarwal questioned the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) charges against them related to two money transactions.
Both the accused have been charge sheeted by the CBI for routing Rs.200 crore bribe to a TV channel.
Balwa and Aggarwal, informed CBI Special Judge O.P. Saini that the probe agency was linking them in two separate money transactions - one, between Dubai-based Etisalat and Swan Telecom and, another, between Dynamix Realty to Kusegaon - to prove its case.
The first set of charges filed in the case April 2 had named former communication minister A. Raja, eight others and the three telecom companies as co-conspirators.
The supplementary charge sheet April 25 named DMK MP Kanimozhi, daughter of former Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi, her close aide Sharad Kumar, managing director of Kalaignar TV, in which Kanimozhi has a stake, Morani and two others.
The accused have been charged under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, including cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy.
