New Delhi, June 20 (IANS) Three accused in the 2G spectrum allocation scam Monday withdrew their bail pleas in the Delhi High Court.

Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa and directors of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt. Ltd. Asif Balwa and Rajiv B. Agarwal withdrew their pleas saying they would file fresh applications later.

Their decision came shortly after the Supreme Court rejected the bail pleas of co-accused DMK MP Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV chief Sharad Kumar.

High court’s Justice Ajit Bharihoke allowed the three accused to withdraw their applications, filed June 8.

Shahid Usman Balwa, Agarwal and Asif Balwa are lodged in Tihar Jail. Their bail applications were rejected May 24 by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here.

Shahid Usman Balwa was accused by the CBI of conspiring with former communications minister A. Raja and other officials to get a second-generation spectrum telecom licence for Swan Telecom.

Agarwal and Asif Balwa have been accused of facilitating the transfer of Rs.200 crore to Kalaignar TV, in which Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar have 20 percent stake each, in lieu of grant of licence to Swan Telecom.

The court also issued notice to the CBI on the interim bail plea of co-accused and Cineyug Film’s founder Karim Morani seeking their reply by June 23.

Justice Bharihoke also told the CBI to respond to the bail plea of former telecom secreatry Siddharth Behura by July 5.

The first charge sheet in the scam was filed April 2. The second charge sheet was filed April 25.
