New Delhi Jan 18 (IANS) The lawyers for some of accused in the 2G spectrum scam Wednesday accused the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of tutoring witnesses.

However, CBI counsel A.K. Singh told Special CBI Judge O.P. Saini, hearing the case, that there is no legal barrier to prevent the witness from interacting with prosecution counsel.

The submission was made during the testimony of a particular prosecution witness, an official of an infrastructure company said.

The defence counsel for some of the accused corporate honchos said that the prosecution was crossing their limit, alleging the witness was sitting in the prosecution counsel’s chamber for more than twenty minutes before his deposition.

The prosecution replied that it was their right to interact with their witnesses to check their credentials.

The defence counsel said that despite its assurance to the court that it would not tutor witnesses before deposition, the CBI had done it again.
