2,500 kg adulterated khoya seized in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Oct 27 (IANS) In the second such seizure on consecutive days, the Ghaziabad police Monday seized 2,500 kg of adulterated khoya (milk product used in making sweets) here, the police said. The police seized the tractor-trolley which was carrying the adulterated khoya from Muradnagar in Uttar Pradesh to Delhi and arrested the owner of the milk products firm.

“We have arrested Om Prakash who was behind this business. The khoya was being transported to Delhi for preparation for sweets. Our team intercepted the vehicle at Meerut Road in Ghaziabad. Necessary action will be taken against the firm and its owner,” Vijay Bhushan, superintendent of police, said.

On Tuesday, 50 tonnes of adulterated khoya was seized in the Massoori area of the city.

The administration has, meanwhile, intensified its random checks on sweetmeat shops across the city to detect adulteration.
