Bangalore, Aug 22 (IANS) Vital installations in Karnataka like power generating units, reservoirs, and bridges on national highways will get round the clock security soon, Home Minister V.S. Acharya said Friday.The move follows the July 25 serial blasts in the state capital and India’s IT hub Bangalore which killed a woman and injured seven people.
Three batallions, two of the Karnataka State Reserve Police and one of the India Reserve Batallion, will be deployed to provide security to the installations, the minister told reporters.
The exercise will cost Rs.300 million a year, Acharya said.
The India Reserve Batallion is funded by the central government but is under the control of state governments.
On investigations into the serial blasts, the first such in Karnataka, Acharya said several leads had been obtained but there was no breakthrough yet.
Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari said over 400 people had been questioned over the blasts.
