24 students injured in Uttar Pradesh bus accident
February 26th, 2011 - 2:38 pm ICT by IANSMathura (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 26 (IANS) At least 24 students were injured, four of them critically, when a speeding truck rammed into their school bus here Saturday, police said. The crash took place in Chhata area when the truck spun out of control and rammed into Saraswati Shishu Mandir bus carrying teh students.
“All the students are being treated at a hospital, where the condition of four-five students is being stated as serious,” police inspector Devendra Kumar told reporters in Mathura, some 350 km from Lucknow.
“The injured students are in the age group of 8-14 years. Some of the students who were trapped inside the school bus were rescued with the help of the locals,” he added.
Police are yet to nab the truck driver, who escaped after the crash.
