21 complaints on nutrition programme irregularities
August 4th, 2011 - 9:31 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 4 (IANS) There have been 21 complaints this year about irregularities in the supplementary nutrition programme of the women and child development ministry, parliament was told Thursday.
“There were 13 complaints from Uttar Pradesh, two from Rajasthan and one each from Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi and Bihar,” Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath informed the Rajya Sabha.
“The nature of the complaints were those alleging financial and other management irregularities which are being investigated by concerned state governments,” she added.
Implementation of the nutrition programme - like procurement, preparation and management or distribution - is the responsibility of the states, the minister added.
