19 killed in Madhya Pradesh bus-truck crash (Lead)
December 21st, 2009 - 11:50 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Bhopal, Dec 21 (IANS) At least 19 people were killed and 20 others injured when a bus collided head-on with a truck Monday evening in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district, police said.
The accident occurred around 5 p.m. on the Agra-Mumbai highway. Police officer D.K. Sharma confirmed 19 people died in the accident.
Additional Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Singh said that 10 people were killed on the spot while rest succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital.
Earlier reports said ten people died on the spot and eleven others died on their way to hospital.
The injured have been admitted to Guna district hospital, police said.
Hospital’s civil surgeon C.V. Sharma told IANS over phone that the condition of eight of the 20 injured is critical.
