19 killed in Iran road accident

Tehran, Aug 3 (Xinhua) At least 19 people were killed Sunday when a passenger bus collided head-on with a truck in southern Iran, a media report said. The accident took place at 6.30 a.m. (0300 GMT) on the Sirjan-Bandar Abbas road in southern Iran, Nasser Ebrahimi, traffic police officer, was quoted as saying by Press TV.

The collision occurred when the bus driver dosed off behind the wheel and the vehicle veered to the left to collide with the truck, Ebrahimi said.

The report said 16 people were killed on the spot, while three died at a hospital.

However, it did not mention the number of the injured.
