19 killed as bus-truck crash in Madhya Pradesh (Second Lead)
December 22nd, 2009 - 1:19 am ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Bhopal, Dec 21 (IANS) At least 19 people were killed and 20 others injured when a bus collided head-on with a truck Monday evening in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh, police said.
The accident occurred around 5 p.m. on the Agra-Mumbai highway. Police officer D.K. Sharma confirmed 19 people died in the accident.
Additional Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Singh said that 10 people were killed on the spot while the rest succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital.
The injured have been admitted to the Guna district hospital, police said.
Hospital’s civil surgeon C.V. Sharma told IANS over phone that the condition of eight of the 20 injured is critical.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs.50,000 for the deceased and Rs.10,000 for the injuried.
