18-year-old held for raping, killing minor
February 21st, 2011 - 10:03 pm ICT by IANSJhansi (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 21 (IANS) An 18-year-old boy was arrested near this Uttar Pradesh town for raping a 14-year-old girl and then setting her on fire. The victim died in a hospital Monday, police said.The boy allegedly raped the girl Sunday evening while she was alone in her house in Mauranipur town.
“The accused was a neighbour of the victim. We managed to arrest him today (Monday) while he was planning to move out of the town,” police inspector R.P. Singh told reporters in Jhansi, some 250 km from Lucknow.
“The victim who had suffered multiple burns was being treated at the Jhansi Medical College. She succumbed to her injuries today (Monday),” he added.
