18 killed in Himachal as bus falls into gorge
November 6th, 2009 - 2:42 pm ICT by IANSKangra (Himachal Pradesh), Nov 6 (IANS) At least 18 people, including five children, were killed when a bus skidded off the road and fell into a 100-foot-deep gorge near Haripur town in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district Friday, police said.
“The private bus was on its way from Jassur to Dera when it fell into the gorge near Haripur town at around 10.55 a.m.,” Kangra Superintendent of Police Atul Pulzele told IANS.
He said the initial reports indicate that at least 18 people, including five children and seven women, have been killed.
Haripur is 50 km from the district headquarter town of Kangra, which is almost 250 km from state capital Shimla.
