175 kg cocaine seized in France
July 19th, 2011 - 3:25 am ICT by IANSParis, July 19 (IANS) About 175 kg of cocaine have been seized in France in one of the biggest hauls in the country, customs officials said.
The cocaine was seized in southern Pyrenees-Orientales region near the border with Spain, Xinhua reported.
Police said the estimated street value of the haul was not known, and neither were its origin or destination.
This was so far the biggest haul of cocaine in France since in January when 700 kg of the narcotic were discovered in Le Havre port on a ship from Panama.
Customs officials said around five tonnes of cocaine were intercepted in 2010.
