16 killed in Uttar Pradesh road accident
November 18th, 2008 - 3:11 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Lucknow, Nov 18 (IANS) At least 16 people were killed and over 20 injured when a bus collided with a truck in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district, police said Tuesday.The accident occurred late Monday night in Shamli area of Muzaffarnagar, around 350 km from here. While eight people died on the spot, eight succumbed to injuries Tuesday morning, officials said.
“The bus was coming from Panipat district and the occupants were returning after attending a marriage,” Additional Superintendent of Police (Shamli) Shirish Chand told IANS over telephone.
Those injured critically include the truck driver and over 20 occupants of the bus, he added.
“The injured are being treated at the government hospital of Muzaffarnagar and most of them are said to be critical by doctors,” Chand added.
