152 Samajwadi Party workers released in Agra
March 11th, 2011 - 11:43 am ICT by IANSAgra, March 11 (IANS) As many as 152 Samajwadi Party (SP) workers have been released from the district jail here at the end of a three-day ‘Jail Bharo’ agitation to protest the Uttar Pradesh government’s policies.
The party activists were released Thursday evening after the culmination of the state-wide agitation.
The released party workers were taken in a procession.
Though the response to the agitation call was lukewarm, party leaders feel it has galvanised the party ahead of the state assembly elections next year. The elections to various local bodies are scheduled to take place this summer.
