15,000 pirated CDs, DVDs seized, seven held
December 25th, 2010 - 7:40 pm ICT by IANSPanipat, Dec 25 (IANS) In a major breakthrough, nearly 15,000 pirated CDs and DVDs were seized and seven people were arrested following raids at various places in Haryana’s industrial city of Panipat, police said Saturday.The raids were conducted following a complaint from Delhi-based Sunil Sukheja who alleged that the accused were violating the Anti-Piracy Act. The accused have been booked under various sections of cheating and forgery, and the Copyright Act.
A police spokesperson said that a special campaign had been launched to check the sale of pirated CDs and DVDs.
