Though some of the injured prisoners alleged that two inmates were killed, Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner H.S. Sidhu said that no prisoner had died. He said that only about 15 prisoners were injured.
Jail sources said that the rioting inside the jail premises started as the prisoners alleged that one prisoners had died due to the negligence of the jail staff.
