15 cases of sale of unsafe food items in Delhi since August
October 18th, 2011 - 11:11 pm ICT by IANSNewe Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS) With Diwali round the corner and possibility of adulteration in sweets, the Delhi government Tuesday instructed the concerned department to curb adulteration as 15 cases of selling unsafe food items have come to light since August.
Delhi Health Minister A.K. Walia said: “The department of prevention of food adulteration has been directed to eliminate cases of adulteration in sweets during the next two weeks.”
Out of the 652 food item samples taken between Aug 6 and Oct 17, the results of 539 have been declared. Out of these, 15 were found to be misbranded, 14 sub-standard and 15 were found unsafe.
The department collected 30 samples of sweets between Oct 14-16.
