14-year sentence in Dhaula Kuan rape case (Lead)
December 10th, 2009 - 5:40 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 10 (IANS) A city court Thursday sentenced one person to 14 years in prison for the rape of a Delhi University student in a moving car near Dhaula Kuan four years ago.
Additional Sessions Judge Neeraj Kumar Gupta sentenced Ajit Singh Katiyar for abduction, rape and criminal intimidation. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.20,000 on him. Katiyar was convicted Dec 8.
In 2005, four men in a car abducted the student, who belongs to the northeast, from near a Dhaula Kuan eatery late at night. After forcibly dragging the girl into the car, the men raped her in the moving vehicle.
