13 injured as bus falls off Delhi-Noida expressway (Second Lead)
December 24th, 2010 - 12:45 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 23 (IANS) A speeding chartered bus carrying office-goers home spun out of control and fell off the Delhi-Noida-Delhi (DND) expressway Thursday evening, injuring 13 passengers, police said.According to police, the accident took place around 7.30 p.m. when the bus was going towards Noida from Dhaula Kuan. It suddenly skidded towards the left and fell off the carriageway into a ditch.
“The bus broke the railing and fell into the ditch but it did not roll over. There were around ten to 15 passengers in the bus,” Additional Superintendent of Noida police Alankrita Singh told reporters here.
M.C. Mishra, chief of All India Institute of Medical Sciences trauma centre, told IANS: “Thirteen people, including two women, have been admitted here. One is critical and the rest are stable. The patients will be kept under observation till tomorrow (Friday) morning.”
“The bus was travelling at a very high speed and suddenly it hit the railing and rolled over once before falling into a ditch. The driver fled,” said a witness.
