13 drowned as boat capsizes on Chambal river
November 13th, 2011 - 12:29 am ICT by IANSBhopal, Nov 12 (IANS) At least 13 people were drowned when a boat capsized on the Chambal river in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district Saturday, officials said. The other five passengers swam to safety.
The accident occurred near Chimangarh village, as the 18 were going to offer prayers at a temple on the other side of the river.
Sub Divisional Police Officer, Sitamau B.S. Waskale said that all the 13 bodies have been fished out of the river.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced Rs.1 lakh compensation each to next to the kin of victims.
Mandsau is around 350 km from Bhopal.
