12 killed in Somalia blast
April 10th, 2012 - 1:12 am ICT by IANSMogadishu, April 9 (IANS) At least 12 people were killed and over 30 injured Monday after a bomb blast hit a market place in a Somalian town, police and witnesses said.
The incident occurred in Baidoa town, located 250 km south of Mogadishu, the capital city.
“The bomb which was hidden in an ice thermos went off at a market in the town. Nine people died in the explosion which was placed by Al Shabaab fighters,” Xinhua quoted a police official as saying.
According to hospital sources, three more people died of their wounds and 30 people were being treated at the town’s main hospital.
No group immediately claimed the attack’s responsibility.
