12 killed in Andhra road accidents
November 3rd, 2010 - 9:03 pm ICT by IANSHyderabad, Nov 3 (IANS) At least 12 people were killed in three separate road accidents in Andhra Pradesh Wednesday, police said.
Four people were run over by a truck on Hitech City flyover here. The dead include three members of a family which had come from Srikakulam district.
Six people were killed in Chittoor district when a car collided with a truck in Peddapanjani mandal.
Another accident in Khammam claimed two lives. Anand Rao, a public prosecutor in Ranga Reddy district court, and his son were killed when the car in which they were travelling collided with a truck.
Andhra Pradesh has the highest number of road accidents in the country. According to the State Crime Records Bureau, 14,792 people were killed and 59,506 injured in 44,164 road accidents in the state last year.
Over 43,000 people lost their lives in 135,713 accidents in the last three years.
