12 child labourers rescued in Delhi
May 30th, 2011 - 9:34 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 30 (IANS) A task force rescued 12 child labourers employed in shellac-related works from an unauthorised colony in central Delhi, an official said Monday.
According to sub-divisional magistrate of Daryaganj N.K. Sharma, the 12 children from Bihar, all below 14 years of age, were rescued from LNJP colony near G.B. Pant Hospital Monday.
“The children were engaged in making handicraft and ornaments from shellac,” said Sharma.
“The district task force for the elimination of child labour raided the premises in the LNJP colony. Three people have been arrested,” said Deputy Labour Commissioner M.K. Gaur.
Gaur said the task force was alerted by the group Bachpan Bachao Andolan.
